Digital, Static Cone Penetrometer (DSCP)

About Digital, Static Cone Penetrometer (DSCP) :




Humboldt’s Digital, Static Cone Penetrometer (DSCP), with its large, digital readout, makes testing and recording readings easy. This procedure is used to access the in place strength of undisturbed soil and/or compacted materials. The bearing capacity can be used to estimate in situ CBR (California Bearing Ratio), shear strength of strata and bearing capacity. By the use of this tool, correlation charts may be developed on local material to correlate to blow counts, unconfined, in-situ CBR and other measurements.


The DSCP is especially useful in evaluating shallow foundations and pavement sub-grades where fine-grained soils are being used.

DSCP is a handy tool for: consultants, contractors, field inspectors, public works, universities, civil engineers , technicians and agriculture.



The DSCP may be used to access the density of a fairly uniform material by relating to penetration rate on the same material. In this way under-compacted or "soft spots" can be identified, even though the DSCP does not measure density directly.
